My Bio

My name is John "Tig" Tiegen. I'm a husband, a dad, a Marine, and a proud Colorado Springs resident. Many of you might know me from my time in Benghazi, but that experience didn’t make me special it made me accountable. It taught me that when the pressure hits, you don't hide, you don't blame, and you don't make excuses. You solve the problem, and you own the outcome. That is exactly why I am running for City Hall. I am not stepping up to be liked; I am running to do the job. If we fail, that is on me. If we win, it is because we rolled up our sleeves and did the work. I want to bring that exact brand of common-sense leadership to our community. If you are ready for accountability, I hope you'll join me.

My Key Issues

Housing

I believe Colorado Springs should be a city of owners, not lifelong renters. Every working family in our community deserves the opportunity to build equity and secure their future right here. That is why I will push for smaller, attainable homes that everyday people can actually afford. We also need to make sure our growth pays for its own infrastructure, so the financial burden doesn't fall on our neighborhoods. It is time to stop City Hall from prioritizing developer profits over the families who live and work here. I am committed to putting our families first and making sure homeownership is a realistic dream for everyone in Colorado Springs.

Public safety

I will run public safety on clear monthly metrics that every resident can see. If response times or crime trends are not improving, we change what we are doing until they do.

Fiscal Responsibility

When I look at how we manage our budget, my promise to you is absolute discipline. Every dollar of our public funding belongs to the people of this community, and we must treat it with the respect it deserves. If spending is not tied directly to measurable results, it will be cut or rebuilt. It is that straightforward. The same high standard applies to our contracts. If a contractor cannot show clear value and performance, that contract will not be renewed. I am committed to ensuring your hard-earned money is used wisely, with full accountability, so we can focus on what actually works for us.

Budget

When it comes to our city's budget, my approach is straightforward: I believe we need to run this city like adults. To me, that means respecting you, the taxpayer, with every single dollar we spend. If you elect me, I will work to cut waste, track our performance openly, and make sure your hard-earned money is being used wisely. There is no room for games when it comes to our budget. It is simply about being responsible, staying focused on what works, and respecting the people who live and work here. I am committed to bringing this honest, practical approach to our local government.
